materials: Eva Hesse stickers, digital photograph, dimensions variable
For this project I had Eva Hesse stickers printed and placed them in the various locations around the world. There are Eva stickers in Tokyo, Los Angeles, New York City and Chicago among others. I wanted to use a portable art form that might make people pause and think about an art hero of mine or perhaps wonder, "Who is Eva Hesse?" I hoped that the project would be a playful homage, giving visibility to a groundbreaking artist. materials: Eva Hesse stickers, digital photograph, dimensions variable
For this project I had Eva Hesse stickers printed and placed them in the various locations around the world. I asked them each to get their portraits taken at the Wal-Mart photo studio and to allow the photographer to place them in poses. I was interested in exploring mainstream queer representations as well as how ideas of "normal" couples are perceived and shaped through the lens of the world’s largest, most powerful corporate monoculture.
